CricTakkar ("CricTakkar", "we", "us", "our") is a free cricket quiz and trivia platform for Indian cricket fans, currently operated by its founder, Yojak Vyas, as an individual based in Maharashtra, India. This Policy explains what information we collect when you use CricTakkar, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

By creating an account or using CricTakkar, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What information we collect

1.1 Information you give us

WhatWhen
Email address and password (or your Google account name, if you sign in with Google)When you create an account
Username and favourite teamWhen you set up your profile
Poems, comments, and your display name on themIf you post to Cricket Poetry
Friend connections (other players' usernames)If you add friends for the leaderboard

We never ask for your phone number, home address, or any government ID. We do not store your password in readable form — that's handled entirely by Firebase Authentication (Google), the identity service we use.

1.2 Information created as you play

Your XP, level, streaks, badges, quiz and Wordle results, and match history are recorded so the app can show you your progress, your rank on the leaderboard, and your stats. This is core to how the game works and can't be turned off short of deleting your account.

1.3 Push notifications

If you opt in to notifications (streak reminders, On This Day, tournament alerts), your browser assigns a device token which we store so we can send you that notification. You can turn this off any time from your Profile, which deletes the stored token.

1.4 Automatically collected information

Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs standard technical information — your IP address, browser type, and pages visited — for security and performance purposes. We don't use this to build an advertising profile of you today.

What we don't do: we don't sell your personal data to anyone, we don't access your device's contacts or location, and — at the time of writing — CricTakkar shows no ads and processes no payments. Both are planned for the future; if and when they launch, this Policy will be updated first, and the changes are described in Section 4 below so you know what to expect.

2. Why we collect it

  • To create and run your account, and remember your progress between visits
  • To power the leaderboard, friends comparison, streaks, badges, and multiplayer matches
  • To send you notifications you've opted into
  • To keep the Service secure — e.g. stopping one player from tampering with another's score
  • To understand, in aggregate, which parts of the app people actually use, so we know what to build next

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run CricTakkar, and share only what each one needs to do its job:

ProviderWhat they handle
Google FirebaseAccount login and our database — this is where all the data above is stored
VercelHosts the website itself

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

Affiliate links

Some pages may in future carry links to third-party fantasy-sports platforms (for example, Dream11, My11Circle, or MPL). If you click one, you leave CricTakkar and that platform's own privacy policy applies — we don't share your CricTakkar account data with them, and we may earn a referral commission if you sign up. CricTakkar itself never runs any cash-prize or paid-entry contest — see our Terms of Service for more on that boundary.

4. Advertising and payments (planned, not live yet)

We plan to introduce Google AdSense (shown only between quizzes and on results screens, never mid-question) and an optional paid Premium subscription (billed through Razorpay, a licensed Indian payment processor) to keep CricTakkar free for everyone else. When these go live:

  • Google AdSense may use cookies or device identifiers to show ads. We will not enable personalised/behavioural ad targeting for any user — every ad shown will be a standard, non-tracking ad, regardless of age.
  • Razorpay will collect your payment details directly (card, UPI, etc.) to process a subscription — CricTakkar never sees or stores your card number or UPI ID.

5. If you're under 18

CricTakkar is built for a general cricket-fan audience and is not directed specifically at children, but we recognise many players will be under 18. If you are under 18, you should only use CricTakkar with the awareness and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and we encourage that parent or guardian to read this Policy with you. We do not knowingly collect more personal data from a younger user than from any other user, and — as noted above — we never run personalised advertising to anyone. If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided us personal data and wants it removed, contact us using the details in Section 8 and we will act on it.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (or ask us to, per Section 7), we delete your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain something by law.

7. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erase your data and delete your account
  • Withdraw consent for anything you'd previously agreed to (e.g. notifications)
  • Raise a grievance if you're unhappy with how we've handled a request

To exercise any of these, email us — see Section 8. We aim to respond within 30 days.

8. How to reach us

For anything about this Policy, your data, or a request under Section 7, email yojak4vyas+crictakkar@gmail.com.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as CricTakkar grows — most notably when ads and Premium subscriptions actually launch. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we do. Continuing to use CricTakkar after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
